Dear
Friends of Christ,
It is with the grace of God Almighty that we have completed
the year of our fellowship with the Thanjavur Christians in
Canada. What started as a fun and social group of Tanjurians
has turned into a worthwhile and meaningful group that has
been trying to help many needy people. All of us should be
very proud of our achievements during this period. We have
been given opportunities to serve Christ and help people and
we have not shied away from that.
Last year, we were a very busy group and did so many activities.
These can be separated into three categories: Fellowship within
our association, fellowship with others, and outreach. In
terms of fellowship within our association, we recognized
the weddings of: Diwahar and Rachel as well as Cynthia and
Pravin. We celebrated everybody’s birthdays and wedding
anniversaries. In particular, we celebrated Sam Thomas and
Nirmala Nathan’s 60th birthdays. In the summer, we also
had a lot of fun while camping at the Triple C camping center.
We also shared in the joy of Mr. William’s family and
Mr. Anukraham’s family in buying their new house in
Canada.
In
terms of fellowship with others, we shared laddus and samosas
with
Dr. Thilagavathy’s outreach group who were mainly non-Christians.
We also distributed new t-shirts to the boys orphanage in
Thiruvaiaru. Thanks to Rev. Sundar Savarimuthu and Rani Savarimuthu
for the t-shirts and Diwahar Williams for his help in transporting
them from Canada to India and distributing them to the boys.
We have also sent clothing to the people at Bethseda home
during the Christmas season in order to share the season’s
joy with them. For this, we have to thank Mr. Thilagaraj Thambiraj,
Dr. Thilak Buck and Mr. Chembi in India for their help in
purchasing and distributing the clothing which cost about
20 000 Rupees. We also sent 120 000 Rupees towards the Bethseda
home kitchen construction.
In
terms of outreach, we helped St. Bedes church’s fundraising
by singing songs and giving a presentation. We shared our
Christmas carols with non-Christians at Dr. Thilagavathy’s
church, singing Christmas songs.
In
2003, as a group, we planned and organized the Thanjavur Club’s
goals and objectives. Our objectives for 2004 is to build
a church in the Thanjavur district by raising funds. This
would support an existing congregation that has no church
building, or to support group of believers who has the property
but without church building depends upon our fund.
Thank
you and congratulations to each and everyone of you for your
successful effort.
By the grace of God each year is a memorable year for all
of us, especially for our Thanjavur Christians in Canada Association
as well as the members family. Though our association have
started very recently with eight families there was so many
events have taken place in the past two years. I just want
to enlighten them to have self-satisfaction as well as to
feel that every thing is possible with God, if we work with
Him. The association activities can be grouped in three different
ways.
Association’s activities and the reasons
1.
Fellowship activities
When we live in an association or community, we celebrate
with those who celebrate and we mourn with those who mourn.
We go through the seasons of life together
2. Religious activities
“Jesus called out to them, ‘Come be my disciples,
and I will show you how to fish for people!” Matthew
4:19
3.
Social activities
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every
activity under Heaven: … A time to weep and a time to
laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance.” Ecclesiates3:
